Bastos and Antunes

Have any of you read either 'I the Supreme' by Bastos, or 'Fado Alexandrino' by Antunes? I bought both second hand a while back and am planning to start one once I've finished me current one; but, 'I the Supreme' is pretty big and looks like quite heavy going from flicking through, and Antunes' book is just plain massive. My problem is, once I've started a book I don't like giving up, so does anyone have an opinion on either before I get stuck in? Thanks
