bangkok to koh samui

Country forums / Thailand / Thailand

hi

we are gonna take a bus from bangkok to koh samui, our flight lands on DON MUEANG AIRPORT at 0300hrs

http://www.sawadee.com/transfer/bus-south.htm

according to this link buses leave at 0700 and 0730hrs at SAI TAI MAI ( southern terminal bus )

my doubt is, this link says 12 hours travel.. does it mean bangkok to surat thani by bus and shuttle to dong sak pier and ferry to koh samui ...... all of it in 12 hours ?

OR

is it only bangkok to surat thani?

if its only till surat thani i cant take a ferry since ferries are only till 1900hrs isnt it?

has anyone followed this site? sawadee.com

im goin on dec 27 2012.. will i get a ticket? since its peak season or will it all be booked? we need 6 tickets

thanks a lot in advance

Yes, the bus will take around 11-12 hours between Bangkok and Surat. Another 45 minutes of taxi/songthaew to Donsak Pier and 1.5 hr. to Samui.

When you get off the bus, there will be abundance of aggressive Thais selling combo bus/ferry to Samui.

Take the public government run bus or overnight train to Surat. Don't take "farang VIP" bus.

There have to be overnight buses from the same bus station you mention in OP. Or consider night train. You can buy combo tickets for either of those when purchasing at either bus or railway stations.

bala-

They are private bus companies or charter bus that offers convenience trips for foreigners. These buses will likely have a thief hiding underneath the luggage storage of the bus and will ransack your bags.

I recommend overnight train.

OP =original post. Its what you started with this post.

You can still get VIP buses from the bus station but at their price, you might as well fly.
