| milenast01:11 UTC29 Oct 2007 | Hi,
I have a chance to visit Lake of Baikal end of November. Is it worth visiting it at this time of the year ? What is the weather ? When is the best time to visit that part of russia ? thanks

I am also going to visit the Baikal lake but not yet. Well, I don't know the exact answer to your question, however, you could browse the Net in search of weather conditions in that place of the world.
I am writing because I wanted to give you a piece of advice regarding this subject :) I don't know what kind of trip you would have, but my friends told me that it was the best to go there on your own - with some people who had already been there and are experienced. Not a package tour from a tourist agency, but the real adventure to taste the real and undiscovered Lake. Of course, you should be absolutely perfectly prepared for the whole expedition (clothes and equipment), be ready for extreme living conditions (like baths in the Lake, no rest rooms, no people, no shops, no food to buy but fish from the lake, no hotels, just nothing) - you, your friends, Lake, forest and the sky.
People say it's really worth to take such a trip.
Oh, I wish I could go there soon ;)

Later in the winter the lake will be frozen and various activities like ice fishing, sledding, cross country skiing and such will be possible but in November such this may or may not be possible.
Best time of you will depend upon your interests and what you hope to see and do. If you are planning to hike, camp, spend time on the lake, November will be cold, probably too cold. If you are interested in outdoor winter activities November might be ok. If you want to see the lake frozen across, November is too early.
