Baguio or Boracay in February or June ?

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Philippines

Hi All,

I need to make some urgent decision and hope some climatic information can help me.

Is there any significant weather differnce for Boracay and baguio during February and June ? In terms of temperature and rain. Which month is of less rain and cooler for both places ?

IIf I MUST choose one of each place for one of the month, which match will you recommend ?

Boracay - Feb and Baguio - June

OR

Baguio - Feb and Boracay - June ?

I would do both Boracay and Baguio in February. In my opinion, February has the best weather year round. It's not so humid, still warm, less chances of rain. I brought a friend home with me the last February when I visited and we had really good weather. We went to Boracay and Baguio then.

1

I will definitely go to Boracay on February. It's off peak so you'll get better prices in everything. Plus, the beach is not crowded with students.

You can go to Baguio in June. However this is the start of the rainy season...better bring your umbrella!!

2

February is def. the best weather. Cool and not to hot and sunny!

3

June was nice this year, but that's the exception rather than the rule. I'd say go in February.

4

I agree with # 1- we did Both baguio and boracay flying from baguio to manila , change plane and check in for boracay via Asian spirit due to time constraint, it was worth anyway. So go for both , in FEbruary, not in June

5

The Flower Festival in Baguio usually happens in February.

6

I will have only 7 nights, can I go for both. I forgot to mention that the Baguio trip is meant to visit Banuae and Batad for the rice fields. Will they look good in February ?

77,

What date and how long will the Flower Festival lasts ? How much are there to see in Baguio ? I will only spend a night there or by pass a day trip if I go Vigan and Boracay as well.

7

If you have 7 days, you can go straight to Banaue directly from Manila. No need to go to Baguio as you will be taking the roundabout way and will be spending most of the time commuting.

There is no fix date for the flower festival but normally 2nd-3rd week.

Thanks 77,

I just found out from a guide book that the rice fields look green around july/july and march/april and Feb in both places should be planting time. I may give up Banaue for another time and go Boracay, El Nido and Puerto Galera? instead.

9

I was there last April and it was very green. Planting time is around Dec-Jan.

10

MY trip planned for early Feb so it may not be very green since not fully grown.

Any advice you can give or recommend for the other places if I dont go north of Manila ?

11

You could skip Puerto Galera unless you are diving.

12

Tagaytay and that sort of quick trips from Manila I guess since you have limited days. Snorkelling is nice in Puerto Galera.

13

Thanks #12 & #13,

How much time do I need minimum in Tagaytay(Is it for Taal Lake/Volcano) ? Can I make a day trip for a few hours and continue my journey down to Puerto Galera ?

I actually dont swim or snorkell. I will only stay above the water and enjoy the landscape or seascape. Is it still worth the trip to PG or Boracay ?

14

Well if you are going to Boracay, then I guess you can skip Puerto Galera. Still if you want to see both, no one is stopping you. Yes you only need a couple hours to see Taal then on to PG. From PG, you can go to Boracay via Calapan -> Roxas-> Caticlan (by sea and land).

15

If you are not snorkeling or diving it's probably not worth doing both. Boracay has better beaches and a friendly (less sleazy) nightlife scene.

16

^^You are talking about Sabang and to some extent, White Beach. On the Aninuan side and that stretch, it is quiet and where the backpackers hang out. Still, I'd choose Boracay over it.

17

How about El Nido compared to Puerto Galera ?

18

No question El Nido. The beaches (on the islands not the town proper) in El Nido are one of the best.

19

It's a completely different scene - hard to compare the two destinations.
