B2 visa with no specific itineraryCountry forums / United States of America / United States
Can I apply for B2 visa with no specific itinerary? I am a housewife and want to accompany my husband in his next official trip to US. He has B1 visa. The dates for the official trip has not been yet finalised by his company.
Yes, but the more details you have the more likely you are to get the visa, not having definite plans is also typical of overstayers. | 1
Certainly. People do it all the time. In fact, the US urges people not to buy plane tickets or book hotels until they know for sure that the visa will be granted. Just saying that you plan to accompany your husband on a business trip shows that you have plans, rather than “well, um, I think I might like to go to New York or maybe Los Angeles.” It also helps tp demonstrate that you have every intention of returning home, as your husband’s trip will have a specific start and end time, and you will want to return with him. | 2
Yes you can apply in B1/B2 visa to accompany to your husband. You don't require any itinerary for such purpose. Hope this help you. | 3
While no itinerary is required, you will have to attend a visa interview and some obvious questions are going to be where are you going in the US and what is the purpose of your trip (the same sort of questions as they will ask when you enter the US). The more definite your answers the better is usually the case. Nobody will ever check if you actually follow any proposed itinerary, all they are looking for is consistency. | 4
You have to qualify for the visa and schedule an interview - I assume you have seen the requirements: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html | 5
"I want to go with my husband on his business trip" is a boring, legitimate, and uneventful explanation of why you want the visa, boring in the eyes of the bureaucrats is a good thing for your purposes. While there are never any guarantees with ICE, it's the kind of trip thousands of people make every day, and I'd put the odds for visa approval as high and while I wouldn't speculatively book a plane ticket until visa approval comes through, I would not be overly concerned about an honestly submitted application either. | 6
