My name is Ben. I am planning a visit to Australia sometime in June this year. I am coming from the US and it is going to be my first visit to AU ever. ben ? HOSTELS are your best bet. many likeminded travelers such as you there. simply peruse the well posted notice boards upon check in. if no luck try other hostels notice boards.

How long are you staying in OZ for? I'm arriving at the end of May but I'm going to Brisbane to enjoy some sun and then heading down to Melbourne and Sydney in October when it's beginning to warm up again.

Hi Jamie,
I was looking to go in the beginning of June to Sydney and maybe swing by Melbourne. Was gonna stay a total of about 2 weeks. But to be honest with you, I'm already changing my mind about it all because I have not been able to find someone to go with. And I honestly don't wanna roam Australia by myself...kinda sad looking.

I couldn't disagree with you more haha! Last May I went Thailand and had it all planned with a best friend and then a week before she bailed. I decided to go alone despite having a fear of flying and only ever leaving the country 4 times in my life, always with people.

It ended up being the best 2 weeks of my life and I genuinely wouldn't have had such an awesome experience had I travelled with someone.

The people I met over there blew me away and a year on we keep in touch, despite only spending a day or two with each one.

You should really go dude, you won't regret it!!

Where did you meet those people? Hostels?

Hostels mainly yeah. Excursions, just plucking up the courage to speak to people in bars and stuff., It's easier than you think honest!

That makes me happy!! If you decide to go up towards Brisbane at any point let me know.

Just remember, everyone travelling alone is in the same boat, it's not like at home, people want to be approached haha!!

You're absolutely right. You just fired me right up. Now I just have to hope my work approves the vacation. I have never heard of Brisbane, but I'll let you know if everything does go wel. Military can be a pain sometimes.

It's more north, west coast still. If you wanna go somewhere warm and beautiful go to Bondi Beach, google it!
