ATM's in Cirali?Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Turkey
My wife and I will be in Cirali, Turkey in early September. I'm wondering about the availability of ATMs in Cirali--do they have them, are they reliable? Haven't run into any major problems in any of the dozen or so countries I've visited in the last few years, but thought I should check. Thanks!
I was last there two weeks ago. I don't recall seeing any. Caretta will have the definitive answer. | 1
Yes thanks cochradi....I do know the answer..... | 2
Thanks, Caretta. We will be coming thru Antalya. Am I correct in assuming that I could take care of it there [that there are ATMs in Antalya]?--dg | 3
Yes plenty of ATM's in Antalya...if you are arriving at the airport there are bank machines there as well. | 4
You mention the change office @ the airport--probably won't need that, as I assume the ATMs dispense the local currency, correct? Also, in terms of shops and places to eat within Cirali, are these cash only or do they take credit cards or debit cards?--dg | 5
Yes, ATMs dispense Turkish lira. Some will even dispense Euro and USD. Most places in Cirali are cash only - though I saw a few POS machines, I wouldn't count on it. You will see what I mean when you get there. This is not a developed place we are talking about, but a village that happens to get a lot of visitors in the summer. Places like the car rentals and tour agencies no doubt take plastic, as well as some of the bigger establishments. Count on 70-80 lira for a double in a pension with ensuite, meals on the beach are probably around 30-40 a couple with alcohol. Breakfast is likely included in your pension, most will do a lunch or dinner for you as well. | 6
Oh, and Caretta: If you happen to hear of anyone finding a wedding band in the last two weeks, I lost mine while swimming on July 16. Thanks! | 7
hý, there ýs a mobile atm machýne ýn Olympos which is just at the other end of the beach from çýralý, maybe 3km walk | 8
Thank you, RovingPaddy--very glad to hear this.--dg | 9
just an update for #8...the mobile ATM in Olympos was placed in the later part of the summer and I had phone over to turkmen treehouses ( as it is usually in that area ) and they told me that it never really worked very properly. Was always out of service...so I would not count on that for an ATM. The only alternative for ATM's in Cirali is in the out lying towns of Kumluca, Tekirova or Kemer. | 10
Yes, Caretta's info is accurate, as I learned first-hand. Not really a problem though, as long as one plans in advance. I took one of the minibuses into Kemer [30 km away] for the Monday bazaar. The bazaar itself wasn't much different from that in Kumluca [on Fridays], but Kemer itself is far more touristy than Kumluca. There's good and bad in that, I suppose, depending on your perspective. Another note about Cirali [which we thought was great]: ran into a guy looking to buy flash memory for his camera. Make sure you've got plenty before coming to Cirali--you'd probably find it in Kemer, but no way in Cirali. | 11
