Asia Song Festival & Jeju Question

Country forums / North-East Asia / South Korea

Hello all,

So I found out one day too late (last day was Sept. 7, on the website) about the Asia Song Festival, this free festival on the 19th of Sept. with k-pop acts like Big Bang, 2NE1 and SNSD. Not my kind of thing, but my fiance is hooked.

I tried emailing for the 'ticket exchange pass', as international visitors without a korean ID were told to do. However having missed the deadline by a day, I don't think I'll get the pass; compounded by the fact that tickets seem to have flown off the shelves.

Anyways, my question: anyone have experience with this kind of festival, and getting in the day of? Or, is the World Cup Stadium where this is being held an open-stadium? That is, can I get to a vantage spot and get a good enough show from the outside?

Jeju question: I'm trying to work out the logistics of air-travel from Gimpo to Jeju, hotel for 3 nights in Jeju, and car-rental vs. letting a tour agency do it all for me (http://english.triptokorea.com/english/viewtopic.php?t=326). I'm becoming more biased towards just renting a hotel when we're there on Jeju. Any thoughts as to how difficult this would be? Are there a lot of accomodation options in Jeju City and Seogwipo?

Thanksssss!
