Arusha-Iringa

Does anyone have recent experience traveling from Arusha to Iringa through Dodoma? Any travel tips? I'm wondering the condition of the main road and approximate travel time. Other posts have commented that the road south of Dodoma might not be in great condition. I'm hoping to get more information on the quality of the road from someone who has traveled it. Better to travel Dar to Iringa instead?
