Aqaba - Wadi Rum - PetraCountry forums / Middle East / Jordan
Hi! Could anyone give me a tip about traveling Aqaba - Wadi Rum - Petra? We want to go from Aqaba to Wadi Rum in the morning, have a overnight stay in Wadi Rum and then travel to Petra early the next day. Is it possible to do this with public transport? Or must we hire a taxi? Car rental or hitchhiking is not an option for us. Thanks :) Edited by: annjin
Your best bet from Aqaba to Wadi Rum is a shared taxi. There are a couple Jett buses and more frequent mini-buses, but you'll need to figure out their schedule, get to the stop and then you'll still need to get from where they drop you off to the Visitor Center. There is one morning bus from Wadi Rum to Wadi Musa (Petra). Again, a shared taxi will offer a lot more flexibility. There are always tourists trying to get from each of these cities to the other so finding shared taxis isn't that tough. You can visit www.jordanjubilee.com for more detailed information about your transportation options. Good luck. | 1

Sure. Have a great trip. | 3
You can also talk to your hotel and/or trek/camping guides, they can usually get you on whatever transport is going between the places, whether minibus or your own taxi, etc. It might be a little more expensive than doing it yourself and bargaining, but I found it was not that much more. | 4
Thanks for the tip! I was about to start a new topic about just that, because on some websites it says that its impossible to per-arrange a trip from Aqaba, it's not allowed etc etc... But you say it could be done? That we could arrange it from Aqaba and still have a nice overnight stay in Wadi Rum? | 5
It should be fairly simple to do. Get in touch with a guide or trekking company and ask them when they'd like you to arrive at the Wadi Rum visitor center. Then ask your hotel to arrange a ride that will get you there at that time. Or grab a taxi and negotiate it. It should be no more than 20-30 JD. To leave Wadi Rum, you could ask you're guide to have a ride waiting for you to go to Petra. | 6
Thank you again for helping a lost soul :) We've now booked the tour & will just arrange taxi / shared taxi to Wadi Rum with assistance from the hotel in Aqaba. Your advice has been much appreciated, as the other's above. Thanks so much :-D -Annjin | 7
