Hi all

I'm an aussie who is in the process of preparing an application for that much sought after HSMP visa. My question is how hard is it to obtain it?? has anyone on here applied for it and been granted/denied the visa? is there an agency or company that anyone can recommend that helps ease the application process for a modest fee? I just don't wanna apply for this, find out i've been rejected and lose my 400 quid!! any help or advice on the matter would be very appreciated, cheers!

Well if you have done the online questionnaire for the HSMP visa you should have a fair indication of your chances of getting one.

What's your skill/profession/trade? What's your age? How many years of experience in your field?

I don't see how you expect anyone to answer your question without knowing something about your qualifications.
If you flip burgers at MacDonald's and are applying vs. being a brain surgeon and applying, people would obviously be in a better position to suggest what your chances are.

My HSMP visa was approved two months ago and am planning to head over soon. If you meet the minimum points (and have the specified supporting material) and English language criteria then the process is straight forward. I applied on my own and found the guidance notes and their call centre fairly helpful. You might find this and this useful in your application process.

Hi there,

I am in the process of gathering the relevant information myself for an HSMP application. I have looked into using an agent but their fees are crazy talk! More than the visa itself! I am confident that I should be able to fill out the form and gather the documents myself... however some of these agency websites speak of putting together a covering letter with your "arguement" of why you should get the visa. Is this recommended or something that you guys have done as part of your successful applications? I guesstimate that I have 85 or 90 points (depending on the months from the income assessment and exchange rates).

Additionally, I am planning to head off on the 13th May (yes I have set the date!). How quickly do I need to get onto the HSMP? I thought I read that it can only be granted with intentions of entering the UK within the next 3 months, but possibly I am confusing myself with the entry clearance requirement?

Any advice is appreciated :)
