Any suggestions for a toddler friendly month in Sri Lanka

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Sri Lanka

We are considering a trip to Sri Lanka in March for 4 weeks with our 2year old. We are seasoned travellers in Asia and India, first time to SL though. Any recommendations on where to start and suggestions of kid friendly places to visit or stay. We would ideally enjoy a few weeks on a quiet beach, and a few weeks in the hills. Generally we dont like to move about much, just find a place and hang out for a while to soak it up. Some daytrips though are always welcome. Locations must be clean and safe with access to good amenities .Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi
For the beach on the southern coast il will recommend Mirissa. Not too many tourists, more quiet than Hikkaduwa or Unawatuna(noisy night time). At Mirissa, here is a nice ghestouse for your kids Dinu surf resort, at the end of the beach, on the right side. At that place, the sea is very safe and children are able to swimm without danger, it's like a small swimming pool on the beach. The ghestouse is new and quiet. Six rooms only and belonging to a friendly family with 3 children. They also particulaly appreciate children and take care about them.
You can send a mail from christel, the french girl. I stayed here two years and had a very pleasant time.

Hi

I would deffinately reccomend Mirissa and Mirissa Beach as a place to go to if you have kids . Ther water is generally calm and there are no touts hassling you on the beach. At one end of the beach there are people surfing and in the middle there are alot of good guesthouses.
When you have kids with you you anywhere in Sri Lanka you always get a good reception.
Bring sunscreen for them and some bug repellant and they should be happy as well .

Check out this website , its full of info about the place , there are many sites like it online.

Water in Matara is also good and calm . Do some online research before you go .
Ultimately, wherever you feel comfortable is the best place for you.
