Any recommendations?

Interest forums / Travel on a shoestring

Hi all,
I've just started to look for trips away in the summer and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?! My boyfriend and I are looking to go away at the end of August for about 2 weeks (work commitments) and we'd like to go somewhere further afield than the usual Greek island. We're both 25 and are looking for somewhere we can travel around a little and stay in 3 or 4 places for a couple of days each, preferably at some point nearby a beach. We are keen fans of diving and snorkelling so anywhere where that is a possibility would be a huge plus! I've spent time in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand before and loved them and we were wondering if anyone could help at all with recommendations of good places to go? Budget is probably around £700 - 900 each (I know it's limited!) but would consider slightly higher prices for somewhere amazing! The only place I've found as a possibility so far is Sri Lanka. Any other ideas?!

Thank you to anyone who is able to help!

Is that budget with flights or after/excluding flights?

1

Have a look at the Philippines for beaches and diving.

If that budget includes flights though, I think you're going to struggle, especially in August which is peak season for holidays out of the UK.

2

Budget is including flights preferably. Was thinking abt £600 ish on flights then 300/400 when there. I know its a very limited budget! Any help would be great!

On your lower limit...impossible I'd say.

If you can up it to £1000 a head you might get a return from London? to Indonesia,Philippines or Sri Lanka in August for £600 (if you book well in advance)...that would leave you £400 each.

£30 a day each will give you a decent low budget trip....Indonesia would be the cheapest, then Philippines, then Sri Lanka.

If you are leaning towards Sri Lanka,be aware that your budget will be quite low (cheapish room, local food, few beers)..not luxury..and you might get the monsoon, depending on where you are in the country and luck!
