Any political troubles ahead?

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Turkey

I am aware that the President is not loved by all Turks. Do you think that there could be trouble brewing or will things be solved peacefully? I'm heading to Turkey (Ankara) for the first time and I'd like to know how things are.

No partiulcar implications for travel safety.

Perhaps may be some political demonstrations in Ankara.

Political turmoil does not usually disrput travel plans. For example the elected Thai government was deposed in a military coup a whiule ago; the holiday season and foreihgn tourists just kept coming and going as if nothing happened.

You mean the current presidential candidate who will be elected as president by the new parliament at the end of August ?

There will definitely be trouble but I am certain that it will not effect you as a tourist..

Thanks for the comments. I like to be as aware as possible.

What you might be affected by in Ankara is the severe water shortage. I read that water is 2 days on, then 2 says off.

Have a shower before you go.

BTW, you used to be JeremyinFrance, right?

Jeremy if you are that worried maybe you should follow the Turkish Daily News web page on a daily basis so that you can arrange your travels accordingly.

Better yet, don't worry!

Don't worry about the politics, worry about water.
