Anivorano du Nord

Country forums / Africa / Madagascar

Hi I'm a medic flying into Madagascar on the 28th of November and working in a hospital in Anivorano du Nord which is 70km south of DIego Suarez.

I fly into Tana and was wondering if I was able to make the trip up to Anivorano du Nord overland rather than by plane as the flights seem quite expensive (€360 return). I know it's a long way, about 1000km I think but can it be done in a day or so? Can you recommend anywhere to break the trip overnight?

Also, can you recommend anything to do nearby, bearing in mind I can only take 2/3 days off at a time from work in the hospital. I've already had Plage de Remana recommended to me.

Thanks

Rob

Tana - Diego is a non stop 24 hour ride by taxi brousse, more with technical breakdowns.
In the area do not miss the Ankarana National Parc, the Tsingy Rouge and the Lac Sacré.
Have a nice stay and keep up the good work.
