Advice on getting from Podgorica, Montenegro to Croatia

Interest forums / Travel Bloggers and Pathfinders

Hello, fellow travelers! I recently returned from Europe and thought I'd post a little tip. Prior to the trip I spent a lot of time researching the best way to get from Podgorica to Dubrovnik (We flew into Podgorica since it was about $250 cheaper) without much luck. The bus schedule information was spotty and I found it's not possible to rent a car through most agencies. Finally, I stumbled across a taxi agency based in Podgorica (Red Line taxi http://www.redtaxi.me/en/) that offers long distance fares. I made a reservation and requested an airport pickup. We arrived and our driver was there waiting with a sign. He didn't speak much English, but could not have been more kind or friendly. He drove us from Podgorica to Dubrovnik with an hour stop off in Kotor for 100 Euro!! That's a 3 hour drive plus an hour stop off. I still can't believe how inexpensive it was. Not only did he stop in Kotor, he stopped along the way to let us take pictures and called the owner of our guesthouse in Dubrovnik when we couldn't find it. He even tried to refuse a 20 Euro tip we offered him.

What a wonderful experience it turned out to be. Even if the flight to Dubrovnik is a comparable price, I still recommend this route. The drive from Montenegro is absolutely stunning, Montenegrins are super friendly and gracious, and it's an economically sound option. Hope this helps!

Cheers!
