Aconcagua compared to Chimborazo

Interest forums / Trekking & Mountaineering

I was thinking of climbing Aconcagua next month. I have climbed some of the Ecuador Volcanoes--i.e. Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, etc.--and Kilamanjaro. How does Aconcagua compare to these mountains?
Thanks.

Tommy

Well Tommy to put it lightly, Aconcagua is the Highest mountain in the Western Hesmisphere. Believe me when I say you better be prepared to have a hard climb. Hope your experienced enough as this is no mickey mouse of a mountain.

used to guide aconcagua, 11 summits, so ... it is pretty damn easy. in fact, at this time of year, you won't even probably be on snow. however ... any mountaineering endeavour needs to be taken seriously. but much like the ecu volcanoes, pretty easy, more of a high altitude trek. good luck, dd

Dirk,
if there is no snow, what the hell do you drink?
Just curious,

towards the end of the season, it gets kinda tough. it is a problem at the upper camps. there are limited snow patches here and there and by the later season, they're pretty dirty. but, you always seem to find something to melt, may not taste all that great, but it's water. love, dd
