Acommodation Eastern Island / Rapa NuiCountry forums / South America / Chile
Hola chicos We're flying to Rapa Nui on Feb 5, 2008. I think there will be a festival as well (tapati?). Is ist difficult to find a budget place? Or should we book ahead? And if yes, how? Thanks and hasta luego Andrea & Ueli
Tapati te Nui is the ONE time I would recommend booking before hand as things fill up and stay that way for most of the month. Check and see if you really will be there when its on, if not-and you're not within a few days of it-just book with someone at the airport when you land. Chez Goretti took great care of me, the food was superb and the company a polyglot delight. But it is not the cheapest accom on Rapa by a long shot. Ed | 1
As the previous poster said, Tapati is the one time you should book in advance. We were there last year during Tapati, but we stayed at one of the more expensive places. Tapati is a great time to be there. The celebrations are not very touristy, they are what the locals do to celebrate their culture. I highly recommend it, especially the bannana stalk ride down the mountain competition! | 2
Hola Many thanks for your advices, so we will make some reservation. Do you know a website or have any recommodation (with e-mail or tel number)? | 3
I can't tell you if they have an opening, but here is the link for Maria Goretti's place, which I loved. Poke around on the web and you'll find tons more on Rapa, especially if you have some Spanish. Make sure you ask them if Mihina is around and say hi from Ed! Ed | 4
