Accommodation Recommendations Byron Bay Area

Country forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / Australia

Please could you give your personal recommendations for accommodation for two adults (NOT a backpacker hostel) in or near Byron Bay for around $150 per night?

Romantic or eclectic style would be great.

Many thanks

I should also mention that I have already done a web search and have been totally overwhelmed by the huge number of accommodation options in the area, so I hope to get personal recommendations on here instead.

Also eclectic may not be the right word to use – I don’t like modern, hip and trendy type places, especially big unit type resorts. I prefer quaint, unusual or unique cottages or B&B’s.

Many thanks

How about the Cape?

2

Thanks ontheroadtonowhere -

The Cape looks good.

Why do you like it? Have you stayed there a lot?

3

Is that rent by the room or for the house?

4

Betty I haven't stayed there but it has been recommended on here before.
I'm a local so don't need to stay anywhere but the Clarkes Beach version seem to be in a great spot (for mid range) plus the photos look good!

5

#4 it's by the room.

I stayed at The Cape last November

No complaints, especially for the price

The Green Mango Hideaway in the Byron Hinterland looks very nice.....................anyone have any feedback on it?

8

In short - No. The website looks OK.
Its quite a way out of Byron tho so it depends on what you are wanting to do.....too far from the beach for my liking.

When I last went to Byron Bay in 1993 it was a small sleepy town with (from what I can remember) limited accommodation.

My head is now spinning from the absolute overload of accommodation options; my god there seems to be more there than in Sydney, whats more most of them appear to be more expensive than Sydney.

ontheroadtonowhere - You say No for The Green Mango - why? Is it not as good as it looks on the website?

I don't mind if it is away from the beach, the more peace and quite the better for my sanity.

Betty - I didnt mean "no" point blank I just meant no (for me) for the location as I like the beach.

It looks fine on the site but I don't know anything about it and have not heard any reports. You are right though - there's a lot to choose from- and all the ads and disads that come with loads of choice!

I think I am going to need another holiday, to recover from the stress of booking this one!
