Accommodation in Zermatt in March - 4 nights only!

Hi everyone, I need some help! I'm trying to find accommodation in Zermatt for 4 nights in March for two people, however it looks like chalets only do weekly rentals. Has anyone found anywhere that does mid-week rentals and isn't a hostel?

We're even wondering if we take a chance and try to book last minute and see if any chalets would be willing to give us 4 nights if they had a spare room. Anyone had any experience doing this? What are my chances?

We're looking for a place that is in the Zermatt village i.e. not one of the outer villages.

If Zermatt is like other ski resorts then what you're witnessing is the owners holding out for the ski vacationers and ski holiday booking tour organizations -- these typically book by the week as a package 'unit' (arrive saturday, leave following saturday). So if the chalet/hotel were to book a room now for only a few days mid-week some time in March, they risk being stuck with an empty room for a few days.

So, they hold off for as long as possible before booking people for just a few days. The 'week' policy is not fixed. Don't worry, if there is a vacant room they will rent it to you for a day.

Obviously, however, I'm not in a position to guarantee vacancies in Zermatt in March.
