9 days Sri Lanka Itinerary advice

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Sri Lanka

Hey everybody.

I'm going to Sri Lanka in March and am trying to do a bit of the north this time around. I'm hoping you could give some logistical advice on how to get to these places and how much time is warranted for each one. Thanks for your time!

Day 1: Arrive in Negombo and take a cab to Kandy
Day 2: Kandy
Day 3: Polonnaruwa (Is this place worth 2 days? What's the best option in getting there, train, bus, cab?)
Day 4: Ella or Nuwara Eliya (We're interested in seeing some tea plantations and some hiking but nothing too difficult. Can you take a train from Polonarruwa to either of these?)
Day 5: Ella or Nuwara Elliya
Day 6: Beach around Unawatuna
Day 7-9: Galle and around.

If possible, we'd also like to do Anuradhapura but don't know if it's possible given the travel time from there to the tea highlands. Thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Thanks, again for the help!
