8 day Itinerary - Involving SeniorsCountry forums / Indian Subcontinent / Sri Lanka
Hello, First post here - hoping to get some help with the itinerary and see your thoughts. I am taking my parents to Sri Lanka for 8 days, and i wanted to share my itinerary with you to see your thoughts on it. Parents cannot walk great distances, so I am trying to be conservative in the planning of locations. Realize that some walking is required to see the historic sites, however, the goal is to ensure it is limited. We fly in around 4am on the 3rd of October, and fly back on the 11th at 5am, so have 8 full days. 3rd - Leave for Dambulla straight from the airport. We are flying in from Mumbai so short flight. Any suggestions or changes based on this? Appreciate your responses, D
hi..quite good itinarary. dont stay 3 days in dambulla. stay max 2 nights. and add one night in Kandy. no point you go to Kandy and come back to dambulla to hotel. because when you going to Nuwara eliya you have to go through Kandy.so it will waste your time and money.. other thing is south west cost is not good in October. may- September is off season to Beruwala beach is really rough. but if you have no intention to swim bentota is a good beach..it is better than wadduwa,. hikkaduwa is also a good beach.. which is 1 hour distance from bentota.. hope it helps.. Hi Raja, Thank you for your reply. Will change the itinerary to stay in Kandy for one night. Regarding beaches - we wont' swim. But want to stay in an upscale location, on the beach - quiet. What would you recommend? Thanks, D | 2
if you mean quite cosy and a class hotel by "upscale" , vivanta by taj, Eden resort and spa, temple tree resort, avani benthota, saman villa, cinnamon bay, centara ceysands, club benthota, benthota beach by cinnamon ,whispering palms, the palm, the surf hotel are 5 stay and 4 stay hotels that can recommend with nice beach... these are quite though.. when you book them check the price in booking.com and also check in their own website. some times when you book them in off season there are offers going on their own website and you can have cheaper than booking.com.. so check both and go with the cheaper one.. hope it helps.
