7 Day Kruger Itinerary Help

Country forums / Africa / South Africa

I will be traveling to Kruger this September, and I am hoping I can get some advice on where to stay. I posted a little while back about this same trip, but my schedule has changed a little bit. We were originally planning 4 nights in the park, but after hearing so many good things about Kruger, we are thinking about adding more. We are thinking about 7 nights, September 18th-25th. Is this a little crazy? Right now, based on availability at camps (since the camps are pretty full right now) this is the schedule I have come up with for our seven nights:

September 18th- Skukuza Camp

September 19th- Lower Sabie

September 20th- Satara

September 21st- Olifants

September 22nd- Letaba

September 23rd- Tamboti

September 24th- Skukuza

I will be arriving in Nelspruit at 4:15 am on the 18th on the train from Pretoria, and then departing from Pretoria on the evening of the 25th.. We are planning to rent a car in Pretoria.. I know Konagirl has been extremely helpful in the past, so hopefully she sees this post and can share some more of her insight :) All other help and advice is extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

hi colin
7 nights in krüger np is definitely more than a lot of people do, but its not at all crazy. and if you enjoy looking and watching wildlife (like i do), you can easily spend much longer in a place as fantastic as krüger np.

i guess it is very difficult to get space at the restcamps on such a short notice, so you probably have to take what you can get. if available, i wouldnt change camp every night, but stay 2 nights. its nice if you dont have to pack up and move every day. the southern part of krüger is the "best" for animals (but of course also the most visited part), and lower sabie has a really nice setting, so if possible, i would stay there for 2 nights.

I think that to sleep 7 nights in 7 different camps it is very tiring! It's better to stay 2 nights/camp.

7 days is definitely not crazy! But please please dont change camp everynight, it will be exhausting.
