4 days, from Kampala to AddisCountry forums / Africa / Ethiopia
Hi, I found out I'm going to be in Uganda for a few weeks in May for a fellowship. I can extend the trip by a few days, and I thought I might like to try and reach Ethiopia. Can someone say if they think this is a good idea or not? I figure a Kampal-Addis flight shouldn't be too hard to get a hold of, but then I wonder if I will be able to see a few decent sights in 2 or 3 days. I notice that the big sights like Lalibela and Aksum are a distance away from Addis. A search through the LP threads shows how someone had done a trip like this in a week, but it was tight. That suggests it might be possible for me. Thanks!
hey, it depends on your budget! | 1
I would not recommend it. You are looking at an almost $500 flight to start with. Then you would need additional flights as mentioned by #1. If you have not explored Uganda yet, I would spend your time there. Murchison Falls is one of my favorite places and there are a few groups that do three day trips there. Have fun, BB | 2
Yeh, I agree with Brian. Enjoy the virtues of Uganda and have a nice time there. | 3
Like all said, dont do it! To go to Ethiopia's nice places from Kampala, you easily loose a full day flying (Entebbe - Nairobi - Addis - North of EThiopia) and way more than 500 USD (count at least 800 USD round trip). For 3-4 days, not worth it. | 4
Wow, one maybe, three nos. I guess that settles it... My employer's American though, so it's unlikely I'll be able to get 3 weeks any time! What would y'all say is the minimum time needed for Ethiopia? | 5
Three weeks absolute minimum for the northern circuit and at least another week if you go to the omo region. | 6
thanks all! | 7 | |
