Country forums / Middle East / Jordan

Minister of Tourism decided there will be no entrance fees to all the tourist sites around Jordan on the 27th and 28th Sep and that cuz of the world tourism day so Enjoy .

Thank you for posting that information. That will save some people a lot of money who want to visit Petra.

Don't be surprised if they cancel this on the 26th late evening :-)

You welcome Laketraveller, Of course and they can Enjoy all sites in Jordan for free and I hope there will be students and volunteers reading this post and are planning to visit Petra around that time .

I don't think so henkbos :)

Whilst I am sure many tourist will be delighted to hear this news, I personally think its absurd. Already Jordan has a difficult economy and relies heavily on tourism revenues. Alternatively if they don't need the revenue for those 2 days then they could have used it on the Zaatari Refugee camp for some essential requirements.

What does giving 2 days free entry to people achieve actually? Will it make people come who already had no plans of visiting Jordan ? And if it does it will have little benefit since whatever benefit will be negated by the offset of no entry fees for 2 days..

henkbos unfortunately your guess it became right as a friend of mine who work at the visitors center just inform me that the entrance fee will be free for Jordanians and tourists who live in Jordan !!?

6

Darn, will take three American ladies there tomorrow!!
