18 days in NZ in November - who wants to join us?

Country forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / New Zealand

Hi Everyone :)
I will be travelling to NZ with my husband in November. We are taking a flight from Dublin on Nov 5th. Once in NZ we are planning to rent a car and do some sightseeing. It would be great if somebody would like to join us for this trip (or just for a part of it).
Here is our preliminary plan:
North Island: Coromandel (hiking, sightseeing if the weather permits), Rotorua, Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Wellington
South Island: Abel Tasman park, Fox& Franz Joseph glaciers - hiking, drive to Queenstown and spend there two days, Te Anau& Milford Sound

Let me know if you are interested! :)

Mmm, 18 days is certainly better than ideas of touring all NZ in a week, but the way you deploy your time is important. Common errors are underestimating travel times around Queenstown, Te Anau and Milford Sound. Likewise your choice of Franz Josef or Fox. The West Coast is more than a couple of glaciers, it's a smorgasbord of natural scenery from Karamea to Jackson Bay. Wellington is much more than merely the place you catch the ferry. New Zealand weather is very fickle, so a Plan B is useful.
I suggest you have a look at the many itineraries that have been drawn up on this thread.

Hi, we want to travel with you, but our plan is flying from China in March of 2015, so maybe your experience can help us. the same is that we want to rend a car in NZ. and I am not sure how may days will take, but we want to drive around the North and South Island. So hope everything is ok
