| rick769515:36 UTC03 May 2016 | Good morning. I am an older traveler, age 63 wishing to visit Costa rica for 10 days this summer.I will be alone and am a seasoned traveler. Can anyone provide any suggestions as to where to go, how to split up the trip. I am interested in beautiful scenery as well as the cultural/history component of the country.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.

Then head south to Cahuita, very small laid back town, excellent NP within walking distance, nice hiking and tons of wildlife, incredibley beautiful p!ace. Further south is Puerto Viejo, larger town but cool, the beaches and jungle down to Manzanillo are fantastic, a fun day is rent a bike out of Puerto Viejo and ride down to Manzanillo with several beer stops. That whole side is all nature and scenery with a cool laid back vibe. If you like rafting you might enjoy the Pacuare River, pristine jungle Canyon river, good fun, not hard, basic class 3 but a lot of fun, if you decide do it on your last full day, they'll drop you off back in San Jose or Alajuela which is a nicer town to stay in, 10mins. from the airport, it's all part of the trip, no extra cost.
