| iblokh08:00 UTC05 Jul 2007 | Sorry, I know these questions are a dime a dozen, but...I've got a week in the Philippines, so I'm mostly looking for an intensive, active break, no lounging around on the beach.
My schedule: July 30th, arrive Manila @ 12:30 August 6h, leave Manila @ 14:30
My plan: 30th - see what there is to see in Manila, then night bus to Banaue 31st - meet a hiking guide in Banaue and do a 3 day hike through the rice terraces 2nd - take the night bus to Manila 3rd - fly to Bohol and stay at Nuts Huts, maybe do cliff climbing (if that can be found nearby), other outdoor activities 5th - take a one day trip to an island to relax a bit 6th - fly back to Manila and go home
Is this reasonable? Would you recommend going somewhere else after Banaue? I am definitely set on the rice terraces, but after that up for whatever. Thanks.

Check www.maybagyo.com for storm details. Trekking in that area during a typhoon would be uncomfortable and potentially dangerous, landslides are common and even small stream crossings can become impassable.

Depending on budget, stay at pension house or, if wanting more comfort, Park Oasis Hotel at Paco Park. In the evening take a stroll down Baywalk, then try a few of the places in Malate. July31st: Take a day trip to Tagaytay. Can be done by bus. Leave Manila early, spend the day viewing Taal volcano (maybe even climb it). Visit Peoples Park in the Sky at Tagaytay. have a meal somewhere and take a late evening bus back to Manila. August 1st: Get up early and take the ferry to Corregidor Island. 2nd: Have a look at some of the museums in Manila. Stroll round Luneta. See the light show showing the life and death of Rizal. 3rd: Get a taxi for the day (haggle). Go to Antipolo, head for somewhere like Cloud 9 or Padi's Point to see sunset over Manila (don't forget to buy the driver a meal and a drink)! 4th: OK, time to take in a show. Get a taxi to the Edsa Complex. About 10 or so bars under one roof. 5th: Decide you have fallen in love and head back to the Edsa Complex. 6th wake up and KNOW you are in love. Wake up love and ask her to accompany you to the airport to wave you off....
