1 hour 20 minute stopover at De Gaulle airport

Country forums / Western Europe / France

it's just a little bit close for comfort. Am I likely to have any difficulty making it? I won't have to change terminals or anything?

both flights are with Air France and the onward one is to Guangzhou, China.

You should be fine and if this is on one ticket (I guess it is if both Air France) even if you miss the flight Airfrance will have to sort this out for you at their own cost.

When you say not having to change terminal, considering you are flying Air France, this is all within Terminal 2? Terminal 2 has a number sub terminals eg 2A, 2B, 2F. The distance can be considerable between the subterminals, i.e. a bus ride.

That said for me 1H20 connection on the same ticket at CDG is in fact ideal, as there is so very little to do there.

To calculate the time available, you mustsubtract the time it takes for the first flight to taxi to the terminal. Outback is right that Terminal 2 is a maze of branches and, to stay within the security limits, you may have to take a shuttle bus that has its own security for hand luggage. The departure gate may have a security check too. And many long-distance flights now want passengers sitting inside the plane at least a half-hour before announced takeoff time. All this in 80 minutes? It's possible, especially if AF is lenient because they're running both flights, but certainly tight. As soon as you are out of the airplane, check on the next departure gate (there can be last-minute switches) and perhaps ask Air France ground staff if they can help speed you to the connection. And, just to add to the stress, it's tight for your checked luggage too.

It can be done, but it would too tight for me personally - for the reasons reporter mentions.

4

No problem at all. The official minimum connecting time is 60 minutes which is always on the generous side and easily doable.

5

thanks, reporter for the classiest reply. It confirms what I thought I might have to do. Which is to alert the check-in staff in London that it might be close therefore put me in a seat close to a door so I can get out quickly. They will probably need a prod about the baggage too.

6

When you booked this trip, did you book London > Guangzhou, and it provided the connections and times you have? If so, then it would seem Air France thinks it's okay. Or did you book them separately - even if both are with Air France?

7

Transferring from AF to AF, they will take care of you and rush you along to your next flight if there is any sort of delay. Each flight is provided with a list of connecting passengers and the amount of time they have for their connection.
