In need of local tour for Xunantunich ruins. I will be there on a cruise in Oct. Any suggestions would be helpful. | ||
Cruise ship visitors come ashore at the Tourist Village in Belize City -- it's a bit like a small shopping mall/marina. When you exit the Village, there are LOTS of local tour guides waiting. Each will usually have a large sign/placard showing the tours they do. Wander around, compare prices and find one with a vehicle in good condition. All tour guides are required to be licensed as tour guides, so you can ask to see that. If they're not waiting immediately outside the Tourist Village, they will be somewhere else -- I think there was talk of moving them to a nearby park. Their prices would probably be cheaper than anything you would arrange from the ship, but just make sure the guide gets you back to ship on time. | 1 | |
If you want to arrange with a local tour company ahead of your arrival and have them meet you, check the yellow pages of the online telephone book for Belize... There some based in Belize City, but I don't know them well enough to recommend one. | 2 | |
