we are a family of 4 and planning to visit newzealand this month end. we are planning to rent a car for 14 days and decided on apex rentals.
the confusion is on insurance. they have quoted that basic insurance is included in the rentals which has a standard cover of $2000 excess. they charge $14 per day for zero excess. i am not able to understand this.
i am a good driver. should i settle for basic cover or should i buy the zero excess
Need your expert advice and suggestion on my itinerary .
We are family of four including our children 19 and 15 years old . We are planning for a self drive tour of New Zealand covering both north and South Island starting from 29/5 till 12/6 ,i.e. Total 14 nights . I know it's a winter season in NewZealand and I will have less day time to explore the areas but I can't change my days as back home , the kids vacation starts during this season only .
We do not want to make it more…
Hi fellow travelers
I have just hit 30 and planning a trip to NZ as a pre university break.
Is there anyone who is looking to travel NZ in July who is looking for a travel companion?
My trip will be from 1st July to 5th Aug. My plan is to purchase an intercity flexi pass and
travel south stopping off at some national parks along the way.
I am the adventurous, laid back type looking to try out new experiences such as whale watching (Kaikoura)
and Zorbing (Rotorua). One of my most desired…
Me and my wife found a deal for our family & very eager to jump on it - NZ round trip cruise for 11 nights.
Anyone here been with Travel Online cruise deal? How are they? Want a hassle free trip for the family.
Just need to hear back your opinion as I'm sorting and weighing options at the moment. Thanks for those who will to share.
Basically looking for 1\2 people atleast one needs to be able to drive ( couple or friends or whatever) to rent a campervan with to be able to split the cost and travel from Auckland to Christchurch from 15th may to 15th June!
Me and my boyfriend are currently travelling, just spend two months in America, heading for a stop over in Fiji and then we arrive in New Zealand Auckland on the 15th May for a month. We then fly to Australia from Christchurch 15Th June. Just starting to look…

I am thinking of getting a Working Holiday Visa and staying for a year. I'll be arriving around July (not sure what work is available around winter season...have more research to do)
I want to save for the year of my visa, at least $20K. Would this be possible under a WHV??
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
Apologies for bombarding this forum but am planning final 9 days in NZ and recent input re Coromandel Peninsula has been really helpful.
So here goes....
Seeking info re Bay of Islands. After 3-4 days in Hahei region, we plan to head up to to Paihia and Russell. May get as far as Keri Keri but want to be realistic re driving times with only 5 days to do it. We've decided that going any further north will be just too far as flying out on 6th.
Will be grateful for your thoughts and…
Wondering if anyone out there has recommendations re which direction to travel the Coromandel Peninsula... or if it matters at all? Have heard the road is very winding and had the thought it might be best to travel the east coast first, thus hugging the mountains. Of course this could be a nuisance if most of the viewpoint pull-ins are on the ocean side. Has anyone recently done this drive?
