My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Ireland this July. We know this is not the optimum time of the year due to heavy tourism, but this is when we can go. Of course we are in full romantic idealism mode and would love to have a loose itinerary with only a few solid bookings, but don't want the whole trip to be about finding last minute accommodations. We're planning on starting in Dublin and renting a car. We will want to spend approximately $150 per night. Is this doable or a potential…
I will be travelling to Ireland in less than 15 days. I have done plenty of research and have a relaxed/flexible schedule. I would love to attend a sporting event or a concert/festival of some kind. I will be in Ireland the first two weeks of May before moving on. Any recommendations? Apparently its off season for rugby. I am a female solo traveler.
This is my first time doing a road trip, and I've made my itineraries. However, I wonder if 250 kms or even 300 kms for driving per day is crazy or not according to the road conditions there. Thanks!
In case anyone wants to look into my itineraries:
Dublin - Kilknny - (Waterford) - Midleton (276kms)
Midleton - Cobh - Cork - Kinsale - Bantry - Kenmare thru Baera Peninsula (277kms)
Kenmare - Killarney National Park - Killarney
Killarney - Ring of Kerry - Dingle (245kms)
Dingle - Limerick - Cliffs…
I know the Guinness Factory is a huge deal so I was wondering if it was worth it to book tickets beforehand? Is that even possible?
Is my itinerary feasible and a good way to experience Ireland?
Day 3: Travel to Ring of Kerry, stay at nearby town (suggestions needed - staying in hostels)
Day 5: Explore Dublin
Day 6: Explore Dublin
Day 7: Visit Newgrange, stay in Dublin for 3rd night
Day 8: Finish any Dublin exploring and…
I've been looking everywhere here for RECENT info on using a World MasterCard to decline car rental insurance in Ireland. I don't currently have a World MasterCard and would need to apply for one. Apparently not ALL World MasterCards offer this benefit. So I don't know which card to apply for.
All the info I see on this and other forums is 6 to 8 years old, and everyone recommends Bank of America World MasterCard or Capital One. Neither one of those cards is offered anymore. (I have been…
We are planning to rent a car for 12 days for a family holiday in Ireland. We are trying to determine whether to rent a vehicle using diesel fuel or not. Is diesel fuel widely available in Ireland? Everywhere? Do most places have both fuels? Does diesel fuel represent a savings at the pump or is it more expensive? Help!
I recently spent 3 months in Ireland on the 90 day tourist visa allowed to American citizens. I am now vacationing in the Schengen countries with family. I was wondering if there is a limited number of days I need to be out of Ireland before I can vacation there again. I know for Schengen I can only be here 90 out of 180 days (so 3 months here, 3 months out). Is this the same for Ireland? I can't find any information online and when I asked this specific question to the US Embassy in Dublin they…
I am a US citizen (28/M) planning a backpacking trip beginning in the middle of July. I have secured a WWoofing gig in Ireland on Lambay Island from middle of July until Middle of August. My impression is that because Ireland is not part of the Schengen zone, that I will still be able to travel 3 months within the Schengen zone after my wwoofing gig is up. Is this accurate? Theoretically, I would do 1 month in Ireland and then backpack 3 months within the Schengen zone since, per…
We generally travel with small carry-on bags and a day pack. The carry-on's are well within the guideline, but the usual size day pack (19X12X11 inches) does not meet the 10X13X8 inches definition of "small bag." The pack is not jammed and always fits beneath the seat with stuff needed for the flight. This is the first time this has ever arisen as an issue. Are they being really rigid about this?
