At least if it was 1 April, this could be dismissed as a joke. It still may be.

MUMBAI: Tourists can now get a birds-eye view of the city and its landmarks as the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a Mumbai Darshan by Helicopter package. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative, in association with a private helicopter operator.

Setting aside two weeks just for Gujarat this coming February. I have a rough itinerary put together but curious if anyone has some recommendations for some interesting spots.

Here it is so far driving in from Udaipur moving counterclockwise around the state then leaving from Ahmedabad via train to Hyderabad.

Poshina>Dasada>Hodka>Bhuj>Mandavi>Gondal>Bhavnagar>Baroda>Ahmedabad

Anything further south in the state I shouldn't miss?

If anyone is in Kerala on the 29th and 30th of April do try and get a glimpse of the famous Thrissur Pooram! Complete with caparisoned elephants, a host of drummers and trumpeters and an electric atmosphere of excitement, the Thrissur Pooram is a colorful event. I have a few friends who were able to see the festival last year and they completely loved it. I saw that it's coming up and thought I would share it here so that anyone who is in the area could have a chance!

I managed to get an Indian bank account! This is how I did it, in January 2015.

First, why would you need it?
- Buy things online. Online stores usually only accept AmEx as non-Indian credit/debit card. Sometimes you can use Cash-on-Delivery (CoD), most times not. Instead of getting ripped off in the street by merchants always answering "Yes" to "does it have this feature".
- Recharge balance on SIM Card. Like surfing around realising you are about to run out of 3G, and you just log into your…

Hi,

  • Is it true that the masses of domestic tourists primarily focus on famous places they have seen in the movies? I read f.e. that in summer more than 500 taxi's a day drive up to Pangong Tso for this reason. I wonder what are Ladakh's best kept secrets, i.e. your favorite places that don't attract much attention (yet) from the domestic big crowds?

  • I consider to stay in hotels in quiet area's in Srinagar and Leh. That means I have to walk 10-20 minutes to the centre (restaurants etc.). How…

Hi. I have noticed that one of the questions on the India visa application is countries visited in the last 10 years. However, I have had two passports in this 10 year period, and therefore some of the countries are not stamped in the new passport (as I visited them on the previous passport). I heard that when you fill in the form and list a country which doesn't have a stamp in your passport this can cause delays and confusion with the India visa issuing authorities. Any advice?

Hey there! I will be traveling from Bagdogra airport to Gangtok on the 13th of May 2015. If anyone wants to share a taxi for this journey please do let me know! I will be traveling alone, but do have some luggage (not too much). So if there is anyone (2-3 fellow travelers :D) get in touch!
