My husband and I are going to Iceland for 4 days in the summer. We have been told to visit the Blue Lagoon, however we've also read mixed reviews about this place. Is it really worth the hype or should be go elsewhere? We'll be based in central Reykjavik and will not be hiring a car while out there. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
We will be in Iceland in mid-March for 6+ days. We would appreciate any and all comments on our planned itinerary - is it reasonable? We are renting a 4x4 vehicle. Of course, we realize we have to be flexible because of weather.
Day 1: arrive 7 a.m. Drive to Vik, stopping at Hellisheidi, Hvolsvollur (Steinahellir cave?, Saga Center), Seljadandsfoss & Skogafoss waterfalls, Skogar folk museum, Eyjafjallajokull & Myrdalsjokull, Dyrholaey headland, Reynishverfi. Spend night in Vik
Just curious if anyone has taken any tours to Silfra. I was looking at these two:
I thought it would be nice to include the golden circle sights in the tour also..
I was wondering what the price difference is about? Seems like they both do the same thing.
There are 3 of us planning to visit in August for 10+ days and we are looking at options for travel and overnight. At first it appeared that renting a motorhome might be less expensive than staying in guest/farm houses or self catering. The motorhome provides more flexibility in where to stay and for meal preparation, but seeing that guesthouses offer kitchens, they might be comparable in cost when fuel is added to the equation. Does anyone have experience in the two options?
We are looking for the top 5 multi day treks in iceland which do not require ice climbing equipment (ropes, crampons etc.) or any special skills beyond navigation and backpacking experience.
Take into account that it should be a low budget trip.
I'd love to get more tips and maby an opinion how much time you devote to Iceland out of 3 months from countries I listed.…
We have 4 days in June to celebrate our 10yr anniversary. This is our current plan...
Wed: Arrive 6:15am from nyc---
thinking about booking something for this afternoon...maybe Blue Lagoon and then a dinner cruise in the evening? Is the dinner cruise worth it? Who should we go with to visit the Blue Lagoon? (I know it's en route from airport to Reykjavik BUT I don't want to book that in case our plane is delayed).
Thurs: Visit Jokulsarlon (1 day tour...I know very long) (tour company…
Planning a day-long landscape photography trip out of Reykjavik in late March. We'll already hit several "landmark" destinations on the previous three days' tour; for our last, free day we're considering a "super-jeep" tour of Landmannalaugar or perhaps Thorsmork. I wonder what conditions on the ground might be like that time of year. Will all the colours still be buried under snow? If so, perhaps the rock formations of Thorsmork would make a more photogenic stop than the hues of Landm…
Hi, I have generated an itinerary for a self drive travel for myself and my wife for upcoming June. I would appreciate if someone with necessary experience could have a glimpse at it and provide some feedback (before I do the bookings):
Apparently it fully covers Golden Circe and Sneifelness peninsula.
1. Are there any must sees along the way that are missing from this itinerary (we are…
