Me and my friend are going on an adventure round Europe working our way from Denmark to Spain trying to learn and experience as much as we can. We will be passing through Sweden, Germany, Prague, Italy, Spain and possibly Portugal and France. We are wanting an enlightening travel experience and look forward to meeting any welcoming people along the way. Our aim and challenge is to travel as cheap and as light as possible to really experience as much of the culture as we can in what little time…

In late August I will be embarking on a 3 week driving tour of France and looking to keep it very rustic, authentic and traditional. I will be visiting the following places:

Champagne
Strasbourg
Lyon
Carcassonne
Biarritz
Cognac
Sauma
Brittany
Normandy

I am finding accommodation planning slightly overwhelming. I am looking to do a combination of camping, b&b & AirBnB. How can I find camp sites that are in the most polite way this can sound, not full of children?

In the Loire Valley, how is it…

Hi All,

I am visiting France for 2 weeks in July and though my trip is primarily zoned in on Paris, I want to visit a few places nearby. Being on a tight budget, I narrowed down to visiting only the French Alps other than Paris. I've come across 2 cities which I found were close to the Alps- Grenoble and Annecy. All the major travel sites have the usual good things to say about both. Could anyone suggest better cities than these two, wherefrom the French Alps will be closer? Also, if you could…

Two of us considered renting a one-way car from Paris to Frisange (in Luxemborg), near the French border about 12km from Luxembourg city to visit our friends. It was prohibitively expensive. We are going to take train(s).I wonder if we should take the train to Luxembourg and then backtrack to Frisange or should I try to find a train that will take us to a French town that is very close to Luxembourg and have our friends pick us up there. We are trying to find the most economical way to do this…

I am hoping to rent an apartment long term in Nice. I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for advice on finding a real estate agent who might help me, as I currently live in Thailand. My French is not yet good and I am o ly finding Craigslist and holiday rentals. If anyone knows of a possible contact or other suggestion, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello -

My husband and I are planning our honeymoon for 2 weeks in the middle of August to the South of France. We both love food and red wine (not big champagne fans), and are trying to determine if we should fly into Paris and visit wineries in the middle of the country on our way down to the coast, or if we should save time by flying in and out of Nice and just visit the wineries in that region. Are the wineries in Provence nice, or should we take the extra time to explore the middle of…

Hey everybody!

This summer I want to go to Mimizan to surf for a couple of weeks. I love camping and plan on just taking the car and driving off to Bordeaux from Amsterdam (where I live). But I hate those mass camping sites, with hundreds and hundreds of camping places next to each other.. Is there someone who has some great inside knowledge on where me and my friend could go camping in that area?? Or maybe a small cottage in a quiet area? All tips are welcome!

Where? Les Landes (Mimizan…

Hey,

Ok so im planning to leave London next month and head to France. Was thinking of starting at the top and trekking down to Antibes or Nice to find some work on the yachts. Until then though, I'd need to find some work somewhere in the middle as I'm not sure how much cash busking will bring and doubt it will be enough for a place to sleep other than my tent. I have the idea of working in a vineyard picking grapes and stuff as it sounds like a nice "french" thing to do, being summer and all…

Greetings!
Suggestions and advice will be appreciated.
I will be ending my two week stay in the southwest and have a day and a night remaining before flying out of Charles de Gaulle on 30th of June ( a 2:45 pm flight) returning to the US. My next to last destination will be Agen which I will depart from on 29th of June. I am considering taking the train to Bordeaux and staying the last night and then leaving on early a.m. train to arrive at the airport.
My questions are:
1. Will I find…
