Hey, folks! I'm a 24-year-old American male looking to hike the classic Tour du Mont Blanc in late June. I'm currently traveling solo, and would kind of like someone or a group to travel with. I've allotted 11 days to hike the trail, but I'm a pretty fit hiker and wouldn't mind finishing early, all things permitting. I'm looking to stay mostly in refuges along the way, but am also fully equipped to tent camp. If anyone is interested, let me know!

Thanks!

Hi there,

I'm contemplating a climb up Mt Kilimanjaro which sounds like an incredible experience but I get the sense it's more a test of patience, endurance and altitude sickness rather than something that is physically challenging.

I was wondering whether people who have climbed the mountain would say this is true? If so, what alternatives physically challenging climbs would you suggest. If you disagree, it would be great to hear why you think climbing Mt Kilimanjaro is a incredible…

Hi everyone! My girlfriend and I are planning a 12 day traverse of Bolivia's Cordillera Real in the beginning of May. The trek begins in Sorata and ends at the Huayana Potosi base camp. We are looking for a couple more people to join our trek and help keep costs down. If we can get a couple more people the trek should cost $695.00 everything included. We are both experienced Latin American travelers and experienced trekkers, though neither of us has ever been to Bolivia. Please pm me or…

Hello travelers!

Your suggestions appreciated:

Doing a 2-week trip starting last week of October or into November to mark mum's 75th birthday.

Looking for destinations that offer a combination of scenic hiking (day hikes) and culture AND decently warm daytime temperatures in November (ie if possible daytime temps in the high-teens to twenties celcius). Any continent would be considered.
Restrictions: traveling with 1) 75-year old mum who is in great shape but probably not up for rock…

Greetings,
I'm traveling thru Mexico next month and would like to climb Orizaba with a guide service. Looking at doing the trip the week after Easter. Would be great to find a climbing partner to help defray the costs.

Me: 48 year old American male, plenty of climbing/high altitude experience.

Please PM for more info.

Jon

I have just made hut reservations for the Tour du Mount Blanc.
I would prefer NOT to carry a sleeping bag, but rather only a flannel sheet.
Do all of the huts provide blankets? (or quilts?)
Thanks

I have a 3 year old and a 1.5 that we have been carrying on our backs for day hikes etc. on the weekends. I am lucky enough that my husband has no problem carrying the 3 year old (who also walks but stops to look at every stone) who weighs over 18 kilos by now. I can deal with carrying the little one (about 9 kilos), but it is getting uncomfortable.

We miss doing long treks like we did before we had kids and no sure what is the solution until they can both walk well. Any advice or tips? The…

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some ideas for possible treks to do in India around Sep/Oct this year.

I'm looking for something that's:

  1. One to two weeks in length
  2. We could do unguided carrying our own gear
  3. Where there is the option to stay in tea-houses / homestays
  4. That has fairly easy access out of main cities, as we only have two to two and half weeks for the whole trip

We've been thinking about going to Nepal and trekking in Langtang, but I've been to Nepal the last three years so…
