Hey all.
I'm currently planning a hiking trip to western Norway to happen next spring. Looking for any ideas for good hiking routes or must see fjords/National Parks.
Hi - anyone know if you can buy guide books in English anywhere in Chamonix??
In particular, Kev Reynolds guides to the TMB and Walkers Haute Route??
Available on the Kindle from Amazon, but would rather a hard copy if possible, in color:)
Yes, I have cross posted this on the French Branch.

Hi.
I may be heading to Chamonix this summer and if so will consider doing both of these treks while in the area
I have a a few questions that I was hoping some of you could help me with. Looking at the end of July / early August for arrival in to Chamonix.
Regarding kit / gear:-
Is a sleeping bag necessary or while a silk liner be sufficient?
Trekking Boots or Trail Runners?
Down Jacket or not?
Accommodation:-
Obviously, I'll stay in the huts and small hotels along the routes. Is it necessary…
Hi everyone.
I will in about a months time be heading to Lofoten in the north of Norway to go hiking. I am going on my own, I am Norwegian (so there will be no language barriers) and have done a fair bit of hiking throughout my life. However, this will be my first trip on my own and I would like to know if anyone has any tips for me as to how make things as easy and safe as possible. If anyone has actually been to Lofoten and has some recommendations of beautiful, but safe hikes to do on ones…
Having just had a very unpleasant experience in the Cordillera Huayhuash using the trekking agency 'Huascaran' in Huaraz, which the Lonely Planet guidebook says 'gets repeatedly good reviews' (the main reason why I chose them) I would like to show that there is another side to the agency and advise to you think twice before using them.
Everything was going fine on the trek until about midnight on the second night when my stomach started to churn. There then followed some of the worst diarrhoea…
Or any other high altitude long trekking suggestion in S.America in October?
I live in Asia and say if I have 3 weeks holidays this year, which means I can spend on trekking (excluding travelling time) for about 16 days.
Heard October is the beginning of the rainy season for Cordillera Blanca, is it still nice or should I opt other regions? - if so, where would it be?
Which of the two or any other routes would you recommend?
I ve done Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Trek in 16 days and Annapurna…
Any place in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Jomson/Marpha or Manag where I could buy purified fuel for my MSR stove (Coleman, white gas). Alternatively i could bring a light gaz stove to screw upon gaz canisters with a screw but i guess liquid fuel gives me the best performance at high altitude/cold temperatures
I would like to trek from Marpha/Jomson to Dhaulagiri BC and back to Marpha. I guess i cannot take liquid fuel or gaz canisters in the plane flying Pokhara-Jomson
Heya,
I'm a climber who would be stoked beyond belief to get on rock up in Diego Suarez (Antsiranana) and Nosy Hara. (Look them up and let your palms sweat!) I'll be up there 7-31 of October and am keen as beans! Am planning on doing some diving aswell as walking, but climbing is just..climbing. Has anyone climbed there before?! Should i bring my full trad rack or just a sport set up? Any advice is super welcome :)
Peace,
Hann
Good day to everyone!
We are gathering a group for non-technical ascent to MUZTAGH-ATA (7546m, WESTERN CHINA, Xinjiang province) and scenic tour around KYRGYZSTAN.
Muztagh-ata is known as one of the highest "easy climbs" from the technical point of view but due to its elevation by no means should be treated this way.
The tour was costructed with the help of local agencies, we´ll be accompanied by local guide on the mountain. All the base camp gear, accomodation and meals are included, but for…
