Hi Everyone!
This year we have done a climb to Mt Teide 3718 m from sealevel. The route is 29 km long and took us 6h and 5 min (we did it running). The route an the posibility of a climb from sealevel is not very well kwown and the loads of requests of information have given birth to www.teideascension.tk where everything is explained from the route with maps and GPS points to the preparations, summit permit application etc.
If you visit it, better with ADSL, as documents are heavy and waitings…
hi there,
next year i am planning on (well, in early stages yet!) hiking the trans-alp trail (Europe) that i believe starts somewhere around chamonix in france and continues along the length of the alps to somewhere in austria.
I would like to know off anyone that has either done it (or bits of it, the trans swiss trail comes to mind?) and has some tips to share, websites to look up, how much glacier crossing, high passes, maps, gear, times, distances, hut systems, weather etc
i have spent alot of…
Hi all,
I am planning to do a reasonable amount of trekking (20ish days) in Southern Argentina and Chile during November and December, mainly in Patagonia and the Lake District. I have the clothing and a good sleeping bag, but for the other stuff:
Is it better/cheaper to buy the gear instead of renting it?
I´m thinking about fairly basic (but quality) equipment like a tent, sleeping pad, stove etc. I figure that if it is going to several hundred dollars to hire the gear I may as well buy it here…
I've signed up for these hikes at christmas. Is there any advice or recommendations? I have read the info in Lonely Planet Trekking East Africa but want some first hand suggestions or opinions. RR
hi,just want to know if this trail is good at this time of the year, can i find snow on the tops?is ok till november?
Is it possible to rent equipment in Mongolia (UB)??? I have rope, harness, crampons etc but if I can hire them instead then it saves me carrying them around afterwards.
Also, can you get propane/butane screw gas canisters there??
Thanks
C
i'm planning to stay in avignon couple days at the end of november.
where is good route where i can hike for one full day. if it's a little challenging, that will be wonderful.
if i need to move to a certain town from avignon for this hiking, no problem.
any idea/info?
SORRY ITS LUKLA NOT JIRI
OK, it's difficult to explain the origins, but long story short I need a favour from someone who is going to be passing thru Lukla. Here's the thing. 2 Years ago I purchased the "worst bandana in the world" from a stall in the town. It was (suppression of giggles) a homage to the worst movie in the world "Titanic". Basically a black background with "Jack and Rose" written around the edge of a grainy photo of the two main characters snogging. Awful I know but was a joke…
