Hi guys, I just finished adding a couple of new trails from our June trip to Hawaii, and I will be adding about 8 more trails over the next few days. If you would like to see what we have uploaded check out our website (link below)and look under Most Recent Hikes for Banana Lava Flow= a hike out to an active lava flow where the lava was entering the ocean, and The Pipiwai Trail= a hike on Maui through a tropical rainforest to several beautiful waterfalls. Hope everyone enjoys the posts. Thanks…

I am thinking of trekking in the High Atlas in the first half of November. I have some questions:
1 Will it be possible to ascend Toubkal without crampons, ice axes etc in November?
2 How necessary is a guide on a circuit and ascent of Toubkal?
3 How available will guides be during Ramadan (which I think ends on 13 November)?
4 How easy is routefinding on a Toubkal circuit if you don't have a guide (I have the Trailblazer guide which are very detailed)?
5 If I am not doing a guided walk, is it easy…

hi

i'm planning on trekking the Torres circuit later this year, using a tent rather than refugios for accomodation. i'm keen to keep weight to a minimum and want to pick up food / use facilities where possible.

i understand that there are a number of 'shops' which sell provisions at various points around the circuit.

- which refugios also have these shops?
- what sort of foods do they sell?
- do they sell other camping equipment ?(eg gas?)

i also understand its possible to purchase dinner…

that lonely planet has apparently tied up with an adventure outfitter called world expeditions, which offers a number of trekking trips. it's australian, with offices in the us, uk and nz as well. seems like there's a big mark-up on us customers though. this venezuela trek is priced at US$3,290 in the us site but the same trek costs only A$4,190 in the australian site, or US$3,029. either way, seems pretty steep...

Hey,

I'm looking to do a basic mountaineering course in India next year and am wondering has anyone done either of the 30 day basic courses through the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering based out of Uttarkashi or the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute located in Darjeeling.
Has anyone got any recommendations?
I have done a bit of high altitude climbing in the Andes to about 6000m but am technically pretty much a novice so am looking to build up some solid skills as well as tackle some decent peaks…

This year witnessed a record number of trekkers visiting the base camp of K-2 after days of hard trekking over the vast Baltoro glacier.

Now that peace and tranquility has returned to Pakistan all the seasoned trekkers who have heard of this fantastic trekking area are visiting Karakorams for the pilgramage to K-2 the second highest mountain in the world at 8611m.

Details of this fantastic trek can be obtained by sending an e-mail to K2wala@yahoo.com with subject K-2 for quick reply. You can get…

I read about the Thorsmork-Landmannalaugar trail in Iceland -- the author compared it with 'Milford Trail' and other 'great trails' of the world.

Now my question: do you think the author meant the Milford Trail in New Zealand, or in the US? (According to my map there's also a Milford in SW Wales, near the coast).

Thanks.
