Hello, I am in the very early stages of thinking of next year's vacation(s) and I was hoping for some suggestions as to good places to do some hiking.

I am looking for either a) a central base town from which to do a series of day hikes or b) a suitable multi-day trip.

Some details:

When: Doesn't matter, with the exception of most of May, anytime at all can be made to work. Each trip would probably be between 1-2 weeks, but I don't need to spend the entire time hiking.

Where: Anywhere that…

Hey everyone,

Just needed a bit of advice, I am hoping to do a multiday hike in Europe in late april/early may next year. Have previous experience of single day walks in the Dolomites, and Austrian and German Alps and fancied something a bit more challenging for this year. We are planning on spending a week walking.

From looking around those places mentioned above will probably have a bit too much snow for my liking at that time of year!

So was wondering what other options are open to us for…

I know its a bit late in the season but I would like to do a 5-6 day trek in Ladakh this month end. I'm looking for company. I'm a female and hence the hesitation to do it by myself. Any suggestions/interested parties? There is an organised trek that I found from Lamayuru to Chilling village with everything included: guide, cooks and tents/camps/guest houses. I'd like to start the trek around Sept 24/25th.

If there is a group going, I can accompany. I'm not fussy about which trek I'm doing as…

For those of you who have been to two or three of these places, how would you rank them in terms of beauty (with 1 being most beautiful and 3 being the least)? Also, can you see the best of the W trek with just day hikes?

Trying to decide where to go. Thanks.

Hi

I have 10 days (October 28-November 6) that I can spend in Peru before heading back to Santiago, Chile where I am currently living.

I am looking for a partner interested in doing a self-guided hike along the Salktanay trail. I have supplies and I am in shape. Alternatively I would be willing to hike somewhere else and visit Machu Picchu for the day.

Anyone interested? Please let me know.

My partner just bailed and i'm trying to find others to climb/trek around South America with...

My general plan puts me in Ecuador in mid-Nov for 4 to 6 weeks, from there hop south to Santiago and then spend 2 months working my way through Patagonia to the southern trip - catch a ferry/fishing boat up the eastern flank through the fiords back to Santiago, work north into Boliva and Peru for 2-3 more months ending back in Quito early May 2012.

I'm a Class V+ whitewater kayaker with expedition…

Hey,

I am looking for a high but non-technical climb in the Agrentine Lakes area (from Chos Mala, Bariloche, etc), or alternatively from El Calafate, that could be managed within two or three days from one of the towns. I have over a month acclimatization at over 4000m in Bolivia, so that is less a concern as the weather. Are there any trekking peaks accessible for non-technical summits at this time of year?

Any suggestions very welcome, as per guide / equiptment hire recommendations, etc.
