Hi there

I'm planning on going on a "long" distance hike (around 400km) with a friend in the summer holidays (sometime from July to September), but am struggling a bit to work out where to go. We've previously been hiking around 300km in Scotland and would like to go somewhere similar - temperature-wise. So we've been thinking about Scandinavia/Iceland as we can't really afford a flight to anywhere else, but am open for any other suggestions with a cheap flight-connection from Europe (Munich…

Hi,

OK going there early Feb for 1 month. Just started my research into climbs/treks/hikes. I am up for most anything, have done plenty of difficult stuff as well as some of the slightly easier. For some reason (maybe obvious to some) I find my research a little more difficult than before, and I have through no fault of mine left it a little late to start. So if anyone would like to throw any info into the mix it would be appreciated.

Hi,
I am looking for a partner (or partners) to climb Aconcagua, or maybe other high mountain in Argentinian Andes, in February or March 2012.
If you are interested, please drop me a message.

Our online editor James is looking for stories of real adventures round the globe for a Lonely Planet article.

I'm sure some of you out there have an amazing trekking story to tell, so if you're interested in sharing it with us and the rest of the Lonely Planet family please get in touch with him here

Thanks,

Zabba

Hello All,

I am looking to climb up Mt Kinabalu on or around New Year's eve (Dec 31st or Jan 1st) in 2 days and 1 night. I know it is last minute, but it makes it significantly cheaper to climb in a group rather than solo. So if anyone has a group going up with space available, or would like to start a group please let me know. What better place to spend new years than on top of the highest peak in SE asia!!

Hi,

I’m going on a trek to Everest Base Camp at the end of the month with Intrepid. I believe I have to get Nepalese Rupees in the country, so wondered what is the best option. To take some pounds and exchange them, or to get some dollars or euros beforehand and exchange those instead. Didn’t know if it might get me a better rate? Also, is there a good place in Kathmandu that anyone recommends for exchanging currency at a good rate?

Finally, as the trek is with Intrepid, the accommodation…

Hello,

Want to hike Mollepata - Soray - Huayllabamba - Macchu Picchu independently (have done it several years ago) this December.

Someone wants to join (we are two) Let me know - trip is scheduled from 20.12 until 25.12/26.12

And here are a few questions:

  1. Can anyone recommend a porter (possibly guide) in Mollepata to get us to the pass (email or phone would be fantastic).
  2. How can I get a permit (understand this is now necessary) to walk the Inca trail (joining after Huayllabamba)…

Hello

I have managed to get a dream summertime job, working in the Hollyford Valley, 11 days on followed by 9 days off! During my 9 days off I'm planning on doing some serious walking in the backcountry.
I'm looking for someone who is able to join me on a mission sometime?
Need to be relatively experienced hiker, able to camp or sleep in rock bivvies without moaning,
managed to follow rough or no existent tracks through very remote areas etc

Just to give an idea of planned routes i want to walk…

Hi,

I'm thinking of walking the British Three Peaks and the distances inbetween (Ben Nevis to Scarfell Pike to Snowdon.)

Has anyone, or have you heard of anyone doing this?

Posted on the UK/ Irland branch.

Thanks in advance.
