Hi!

we're planning to do a trek of around 14 days along the GR11 (with one or two restdays). What we'ld definitely like to include are Ordesa national park & Aguistorts.

*How long would that take us?
*Can you recommend a direction to do it (walking westwise or east?).
*Are there albergues along the whole way or do we take a tent?

*Can you recommend a good website?
*What's the best place to start & end, considering the fact we're using public transport?
* Can you recommend any other parts of the…

I sent an email to a Skopje climbing club about Korab and received this in the reply:

"Also because of the fires and high temperatures, these period is forbidden visiting forests in Macedonia, so in order to fix that and to have secure and succesfull climb I recomend you to take guide for the hike and all the logistic needed during your stay in Macedonia and also guide who will arrange licence for entering in National park although there is prohibition"

Is this true? Seems kind of extreme to…

Hey all!

My name is Row (female, 25, English but living in Australia for 12 years). I'm planning on heading to Patagonia in March(ish) next year for a month of hiking and general exploring. I'm looking at Torres del Paine and Fitz Roy region. I know it's not much time but it's all i've got for the time being. I'm into all things outdoors, am laid back, happy to hang out with guys and girls of any age (so long as similar interests and mentalities are met), i'm interested in culture and having…

Hi,

I thought of bringing my camping stove along for a 3-month trip where I would spend most of the time on campsites. On quite a few of them you have to be self-sufficient, and on others I regard it as a waste of ressources to start a fire with wood just to get some boiling water for a coffee or tea.

I have the old and reliable swedish Trangia stove, which runs with alcohol. Can anyone tell me whether this stuff is readily available in countries like Malawi and Namibia? If not, what would be…

I'm a keen walker and I'm now looking to expand this to walk in the Alps. My initial thought was to look into the Swiss and Austrian Alps.

I've spent a lot of time reading over the weekend, but I'm finding it really difficult to tell where will be a suitable location. We're looking to walk without snow, green paths is what I'm looking for, but having never planned a walk in this kind of area, I'm a bit lost.

I want to be there for a week from the 15th to the 22nd of September. Is this…

Hi All
After reading advice on not taking a ‘complete package’ my young lady and I have decided to use the same agent and hire a Guide and a Porter. We leave for Nepal on the 09 Sept 2012

We have broken down the costing and have come up with the following,

Guide = $25 a day = $350 for 14 day hike.
Porter= $ 18 a day = $252 for 14 day hike.
Our Lukla flights= $ 276 X 2 = $552
Guide Lukla flight= $110
Porter Lukla Flight= $110
TMIS and Conservation fee= $45 X 2= $90
Accommodation and food on the…

I'm planning on doing the Lukla - Gokyo - Cho la - EBC - Lulka trek in early December.
As of now my plan is to travel solo with a hired porter-guide.

If any other independent traveller/small group is in the region around the same dates, I would't mind:
either trekking together to split porter/accommodation cost
or be on the same route but travel individually and at least have a few people to hang out in the evenings at the tea houses

If anyone intends on doing the same route around early…
