Hi all
I'm back again after more researching, (although practically googled-out) and this is my situation: I will probably be travelling alone, no access to a car or camping gear. I've found some hotels that offer guided and self guided tours of los picos. What I want to know is, can anyone recommend a good hotel/hostel as a base to do daytrips from? I've found Hotel Posada del Valle, who offer a range of walks (guided or not) and from their list, I am interested in Carres Gorge, Archdeacons path, Pico Pierzu and Pelono Forest. however, I don't think these walks are a drive away from the hotel.
Has anybody done these walks? Are they very difficult? Will i need a compass, or are they very obvious paths (nervous about getting lost). I have not hiked alone before, but really really want to see this area. I know refugios may be available but would rather a confirmed place to sleep for the night, rather than just taking my chances. As well, I'm not super fit but could probably walk about 5-7 hours a day, and I'd probably have about 4-6 days to spend there. Any other suggestions about itinery, accomodation etc would be gratefully received. Sorry about all the questions!
Cheers!
