Hi All,

I plan to do a light trekking to Poon Hill, Nepal roughly from Oct 21 - 25. This is my first time trekking and need some advice on what kind of clothing would be suitable for this trek in late October and also gears that I'll be needed to bring along with me. I believe that at that time of the year it will not be so cold and don't think I will be needing any down jacket. A fleece sweater would be sufficient perhaps? Since I don't own any trekking boots, was thinking of just wearing my running shoes. I heard that Poon Hill trek is a relatively an easy trek, so would this be okay for this trek?

My plan itinerary for the trek is as follows:
Day 1 - Pokhara to Nayapul. Trek to Tikhedunga / Ulleri and overnight
Day 2 - Trek to Ghorepani and overnight
Day 3 - Trek to Poon Hill, back to Ghorepani and to Tadapani. Overnight in Tadapani
Day 4 - Trek to Ghandruk and overnight
Day 5 - Trek to Nayapul and back to Pokhara

Does the above sounds okay?

Also since I'll be traveling alone, it will be great if I can get a trekking partner who's interested. I've already arranged for a registered guide at $25/day with a trusted local agent.

Appreciate any advice and suggestions :-)

Hi Diyana

For walking a single layer (e.g. a t-shirt) should suffice for most of the time; though have other layers to hand if necessary (fleece, windproof/waterproof). The coldest section will be the hike up Poon Hill for the sunrise when warmer clothes will be needed; and a few layers for standing around admiring the view. A down jacket should not be needed.

The itinerary is good. Tadapani to Ghandruk is a short day which allows time to wander round this interesting village or continue on and cross the valley to Landruk (another nice village) and return to the road via Dhampus - easily doable in a day though there is a haul up to D, the compensation is a shorter road journey back to Pokhara.

Enjoy the trek.
