I just arrived in KTM and am gearing up for what sounds like an incredible walk: Jiri to Lukla and then Everest Base Camp and the Three Passes Trek from east to west and all the way back down. Budgetted about 30 days, would like to start Oct. 15 or 16. Anyone interested??

I'm 25, Canadian, an avid hiker, and enjoy making dumb jokes. I'd like to do the thing sans-guide but could be convinced otherwise. Hope there's someone out there equally prepared to spend a month in the clouds.

Drop me a line,
Matty

Hi Matty

Even though you are about to trek it might be worth posting on trekinfo.com and trekkingpartners.com too.

Checking the noticeboards in popular places like the the KTM Gusthouse is worth a try too.

if no luck there will be an opportunity to hook up with people on the bus to Jiri and the trail itself.

A great trek by the way, but if you want to vary the route back to Jiri roger_ray gives some ideas on this thread.

hello Matty

Your bike ride sounds AMAZING!

I am coming to Kathmandu on 24th October. I plan to spend 2 days in Kathmandu then walk the 3 passes trail BUT what i really want to do is to climb Mera peak or Island peak so my plan is to so some of the trail and climb one of the mountains. I have previously trekked to Gokyo lakes and EBC without guides or porters and it wa the best thong i have ever done. Climbing the high peaks requires at least a guide. If you are interested in doing this then let me know as i am looking for a climbing partner - You will probably have already set off but i am sure we will cross paths. I am in nepal until 20th november.

Enjoy nepal!!

Thanks for the advice guys.

Would love to summit a trekking peak Daniel, but don't know if my schedule or wallet will allow it. We're hitting the trail tomorrow so I guess it'll have to wait until my next visit to the country. Good luck out there in the hills.
