Hi my wife and I are going to Nepal in November for 33 days and wondering if anyone has some advise on hiring a company or trekking on our own to places like lathang valley. We have never been there before and live in the mountains of b.c. canada so lots of backcountry experience. Thanks

HI
You can find trekking companies by visiting taan.org.np . There are government registered Trekking company list. Or put some inquiries with different trekking companies with your requirements

Hi Michael
I did my 2 trekkings in both Annapurna Circuit and Langtang this July and Aug. I did not go with a trekking company but an independent trekking guide. It was great experience.

If you are not too much concerned with price but more focus on tailor-made travel plan and taking your pace, an independent trekking guide might be an alternative choice.

You can send me a private message if you want to explore my trekking guide option last time.

Have a great time in Nepal!

Hi

For a more up to date guidebook with better detail consider Jamie McGuiness' Trekking the Everest Region.

Not sure what you're looking for but if you are looking for a wilderness experience, don't expect to find it on the main trekking routes in Nepal - the main routes in Everest, Langtang and Annapurna are heavily visited. I would highly recommend that trek up to Makalu Base Camp instead - check out my site for photos and details from my trip there last year.

Alternatively with 33 days, you might want to consider starting off with Helambu, then continuing to Gosainkund, then Langtang and then the Tamang Heritage Trail. It would give you exposure to lots of different scenery and people, with great mountain views together with Nepali culture.
