Hi!
I've already read some posts about this topic, but I still have some questions regarding the Huayhuash circuit.
Is it possible to trek with only a arriero and his donkeys, or I am expected to hire also a cook for his food? I´ve seen already the price for the arriero (around U$20 a day?), but how much would cost to hire a cook, if really needed. How much should I budget for the arriero's food per day?
Also, is it possible to hire a stove and the tent for the arriero in Huaraz? How much would it be?
I would very much apreciate any info about this!
Thank you

Hi

What I did was team up with a couple of guys I met in Huaraz in my YHA. We hired an arriero in Chiquian which cost $20 a day between us 3. We all had camping equipiment with us so we bought all our own food beforehand in Huaraz ...but we also bought enough food for the guy who looks after the donkey and we did all the cooking. The donkey guy is dependent on you for food and a tent, he has his own blankets.

Basically it's up to you to look after your donkey guy. You also have to hire a tent out for him (from Huaraz), unless you don't mind sharing your tent with him.

Hope this helps. Huayhuash was pretty amazing.
