Myself and a friend are trekking the Annapurna in Oct - Nov, then Indian Himalaya in Feb, travelling North India in between. Can anyone give me their experiences of cameras - is digital best or 35mm film?? Please let me know any problems or advice, thanks
Nick

Nick,
Have a look at the Computer/Camera/Phones branch and do a search for past articles on this topic. There is quite a lot of information already posted on this topic, which I am sure you will find helpful. In particular have a look at posts by Bobtrips, Lan, Steve 252, and Madness they all have posted some good information on this issue.
In summary there are for and againsts with both digital and film. It also depends what you want to do with the end results - for example do you want to have large photographs for displaying on the wall at 20x16 inches in which case a film camera may be better, or do you want normal size enprints up to say 6x4 inches in which case a 3 megapixel digital camera may be sufficient. There are also lots of other considerations like storage of images, costs, xray at airports etc.
I did the Circuit last year and shot on 35mm slide film. I chose this option because I didn't want to worry about dust on my digital sensor (Ihave a digital SLR as well as 35mm but didn't take it). Also, I quite like to use slides for talks etc. I also have a slide scanner so I can digitise my slides and use the images in my website and make DVDs. On the other hand, someone who I was trekking with had a Digital SLR and he was able to take hundreds of photos with no problems at all.
Good luck with whatever choice you make - but please do have a look at the branch I have mentioned.
Dave
