Trekking Annapurna Circuit.

Interest forums / Trekking & Mountaineering

HI guys,
I will be traveling to Nepal on the 29th of October to trek the Annapurna Circuit. I was trying to find to some more information on where to go to pickup a porter or guide or where to find other travelers who intend to trek independently as I am looking for a trekking partner or two during the November trek I intend to start form the the 1st of Nov. cheers
Jeremy.

Hi

Most people start the AC by bus from KTM because it saves backtracking from Pokhara - so it makes sense to hire a guide or porter from KTM.

TAAN lists hundreds of outfits so you might want to ask for recommendations to narrow the choice down a little (and maybe read post 152 to narrow down 'recommendations'). You will probably get more responses on the Nepal section.

A guide is not required by regulations or from a practical point of view (route finding is easy, arranging food and accommodation straightforward too) but can enhance the trek with cultural or other information. It's a personal choice.

For buddies consider checking and posting on trekinfo.com and trekkingpartners.com too.

Hi Jeremy - I'm arriving in Nepal on 27th Oct, aiming to start the circuit sometime between 29th-31st Oct. I'm also looking for trekking buddies but was not planning on hiring a guide/porter. Planning to do the circuit in around 16-18days. Let me know if this fits with your plans and if you fancy teaming up. I'm 34 male from the UK and can also be reached on andygos@sky.com. Take it easy and have a great trip.

Best
Andy
