I may be heading to Chamonix this summer and if so will consider doing both of these treks while in the area
I have a a few questions that I was hoping some of you could help me with. Looking at the end of July / early August for arrival in to Chamonix.
Regarding kit / gear:-
Is a sleeping bag necessary or while a silk liner be sufficient?
Trekking Boots or Trail Runners?
Down Jacket or not?
Accommodation:-
Obviously, I'll stay in the huts and small hotels along the routes. Is it necessary to book these in advance - if so, how early? I will be one person Trekking alone. I was hoping to just show up and ask for a bed when I arrive - yes or no?
I speak zero French, German or Italian - If I need to book a room in advance, how do I go about this. If I know my exact dates and routes to follow, can I use email??
Comms:-
Is it possible to get a SIM card that will cover both France and Switzerland? Is there adequate coverage on these routes?
Cash:-
Euro for France....no problem. Am I able to buy Swiss Franc's while in Chamonix? Will I need to bring all the cash I need from departure in Chamonix.
